Area A: 
China was defeated in the 1^st Sino (Sino指中國)-British War (Historical background). Therefore, in 1842 (year), by the Treaty of Nanjing (name of the treaty), Hong Kong Island (territory involved) was ceded (割讓) to Britain.

Area B:
China was defeated again in the 2^nd Sino-British War. Therefore, in 1860, by the Convention of Beijing, Kowloon peninsula was ceded to Britain.

Area C:
