Biography of Van Gogh


Vincent Willem van Gogh

30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890

30 March 1853 in Groot-Zundert,

His father and uncle arranged for him to be transferred to Paris

In April 1881, van Gogh moved to the Etten countryside

he completed what is generally considered his first major work, The Potato Eaters

His friend Paul Gauguin visit him

They argue for that and Van Gogh cut his own ear.

He checked in the St. Remy’s spirit sanatorium

He shot herself in the wheat fields near his home.



Van Gogh’s Creative Concept

Impressionism (印象主義)

Van Gogh deliberately in the reproduction of the real emotional.

He only loved things are the color

Such as brilliant color(燦爛的色彩), without reconciling(未經調和的色彩).

Not only is the color , even the perspective(透視) , the shape and proportions(比例) are out of shape.


Expressionism (表現主義)

the attitude of this creative(不對現實作如實的反映) is called expressionism.

a modern painting(現代繪畫)of enduring tendency(歷久不衰的傾向).

Van Gogh are filled with a deep love of a naive enthusiasm(既天真又熱情的愛).
